Dr. Israt Jahan ( Era )
DR. ISRAT JAHAN is a medical expert with over 11 years of experience in clinical and public health sectors with national and international NGOs, medical colleges, hospitals, and medical universities. She has been involved in health and reproductive health initiatives, family planning, social and behavior change communication, and gender programs, focusing on capacity building and program management since 2015. In 2016, she was the clinical lead in diagnosing Female Genital Fistula while conducting the Maternal Morbidity Validation Study as part of the Bangladesh Maternal Mortality and Health Care Survey. Dr. Jahan has participated in the International Conference of the Society of Obstetric Fistula Surgeons on two occasions, held in Abuja, Nigeria, and Kathmandu, Nepal, where she presented abstracts regarding the application of Surgical Safety Checklists to enhance the quality of Female Genital Fistula surgeries in Bangladesh. Since 2023, she facilitated training for EPI vaccinators on Interpersonal Communication under a UNICEF project and contributed to the "Climate Informed Hospital Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan" aimed at the Government of Bangladesh health professionals under a WHO initiative. Additionally, she provided technical assistance in developing a TB training curriculum for medical doctors, collaborating with the NTP and TIFA led by JSI, to develop a resource pool for NTP. Dr. Jahan's situational and transformational leadership abilities, coupled with her communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills equip her to effectively contribute to positive transformation in the healthcare sector of any NGO as a Public Health Specialist in Bangladesh.
