Bios of workshop facilitators

Mohammad Shamimul Islam
Mr. Mohammad Shamimul Islam is a Deputy Director (Program) of the Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP). Mr. Islam has more than 20 years of experience working in different development organizations in the field of research, capacity building, program development and management, leadership development, coordination, liaison, and networking. He has expertise in implementing national as well as community level programs related to Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC).
He is one of the members of BCCP training team. Working with the development programs, in particular, he has gained extensive experiences in organizing and facilitating different capacity-building programs including research methodology, leadership skills, development and utilization of messages and materials, community mobilization, effective presentation and facilitation skills, etc. He facilitates sessions in the two-week annual Advance in Strategic Communication Workshop that BCCP has been offering since 1996 as an annual event. Moreover, Mr. Islam facilitates sessions at the Message and Material Development Workshop that BCCP has been conducting since its inception in 1996. At the request of the Directorate General of Health Services of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, he conducted a number of training sessions on Information, Education and Communication (IEC).
Mr. Islam played the lead role in organizing a first-ever weeklong Bangladesh Tobacco Control Leadership Program in Cox's Bazar in 2013. Around 100 participants from different government ministries and departments, universities, NGOs, and media agencies attended the workshop. The workshop was also facilitated by a pool of facilitators from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA under a leadership module. The workshop was again conducted in 2018.
He has been selected as one of the IGTC scholars and completed a one-year hybrid scholar program. Both the courses were facilitated by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, USA. He also attended a 3-week Global Tobacco Control Leadership Program held in Baltimore, USA. He received many training at home and abroad in Behavior Change Communication, leadership, management, etc.
Mr. Islam obtained Master of Public Heath degree from the North South University.
